Far Away

From far away, I could stare at you for days
My face pressed, aching through a crescent glass
My chest pushing skin to see
The green and blue coated sustenance
Plump rich life, I closed my eyes
And dreamed of how sweet your smell would be
Sweet like the burnt sugar grilled plantains
Sweet like the nectar that spilled on my neck
Or old fruit drooping heavy in the heat
Tighter clenched my eyes could see
Soil so clean that children could feast
Water clear and fluid like salt
Leaking through balls of manicured hands
Raised to the earth, for what its worth
Washed again and again
